Packing benches for cross dock and hub operations, designed and manufactured to order in our Hull factory, delivered fully assembled with free UK mainland delivery.

Trusted by leading companies in the UK

In a cross dock hub, goods spend minutes on site rather than days. Inbound loads are broken down, checked, relabelled and sorted for outbound routes, often with a trailer waiting at the door. The benches your team works at need to keep up with that pace: big enough to break a mixed pallet down on, strong enough to take repeated heavy cartons, and laid out so labels, tape and paperwork are always within reach.
Spaceguard designs and manufactures cross dock packing benches to order in our Hull factory. Each bench has a fully welded steel frame and arrives assembled and ready to use, so a new sortation or re-labelling area can be working on the day it is delivered. They sit within our wider range of warehousing and logistics packing benches, and can be specified alongside benches for a general warehouse packing area so the whole building runs on one consistent standard.
The most common problems we solve in cross dock operations are congestion and double handling. A bench placed in line with gravity roller conveyor lets cartons roll from the inbound side to the work surface and on towards the outbound lanes without being lifted twice. Where volumes are lower, picking trolleys parked at the end of each bench give operatives a simple way to stage consignments by route.
If you are planning a new hub or reorganising an existing one, our team can visit site, measure the dock area and produce a layout showing benches, conveyors and walkways together. Benches are delivered assembled and can be installed by us, so the area is ready to work with minimal disruption to live operations.
Our standard packing bench carries a 300kg UDL, which suits most carton handling. If staff regularly break down heavy palletised goods on the bench itself, a heavy duty frame rated to 1000kg UDL is the safer choice, and extra heavy duty frames up to 5000kg UDL are available.
Cartons get dragged, dropped and slid across the surface hundreds of times a shift. Laminate, mild steel and polyethylene tops resist scuffing well, while MDF and melamine are cost effective for lighter work. See the full list on our workbench worktops page.
Relabelling is constant at a cross dock. A printer shelf, monitor arm or keyboard tray keeps the WMS terminal and label printer at the bench, with electrical and data sockets built into the frame so cables are not trailing across the floor.
Standard lengths run from 1200mm to 2000mm in widths of 600, 750 or 900mm. Long runs of benches between dock doors can be made to any bespoke length, and we produce free 3D designs and CAD layout plans so you can see the flow before anything is built.
Frames are powder coated in blue RAL 5010 as standard, but any RAL colour is available. Some hubs use a different frame colour for each outbound region or carrier, which makes it obvious at a glance where a consignment belongs.
